It’s no secret that high-end industries still lack diversity. When it comes to entertainment and tech, only 1% of film companies are owned by minorities. As far as professionals behind the scenes, that percentage is almost nonexistent. Editbae Post was established in Fall 2022. The small team handle full post and finishing - editing, sound mixer, colorists, and partners with a VFX company. The collective works remotely all over the US and opened a studio space in Memphis. The mission is to execute diverse stories with an experimental approach.
Founder, Chassidy “Editbae” Jade is known for her witty soulful editing style that led her to become the NBA's first minority senior editor and working under Oscar-winning film editor, Paul Rodgers for Everything Everywhere All At Once. After over a decade working out of Los Angeles and New York, Jade developed a strong desire to build a team at home in the south - Memphis and Miami. Unexpectedly, eminent interest followed her transition and mentors invested in the vision.
With nonprofit partnerships, The Black Girls Film Camp, Editbae employs and educates post-professionals to enhance creative and economic impact. As of 2024 - The organization has produced 40 films, been featured in Mill Valley and Essence Film Festival, and now streams on Aspire TV. Each BGFC co-hort travels to Los Angeles to meet the top tech and creative professionals.
